What is a Video Wall Controller?

Over recent years there has been an increase in demand for more complex video walls, displaying not only standard video but also computer generated information and non-standard video formats.

One of the main advances with this technology is that the wall controller hardware is now PC based, eliminating the need for large expensive customized programming solutions. Datapath specializes in this technology, offering an extensive range of PC based Video Input and Output PCI plug-in cards that enable users to build anything from a simple four screen display controller, using a single PCI card and desktop PC, to a highly complex data wall using multiple cards and a high-end industrial PC. Datapath’s wall controllers can be controlled interactively across a network and operate on Windows Operating Systems.

Datapath wall controllers operate by spreading the Windows® desktop seamlessly across the display wall, telling Windows® to view the wall as one large display area thus allowing any standard Windows® application operate and be displayed anywhere on the wall.  Datapath wall controllers support up to 40 screens using the correct combination of Datapath hardware, and can output either VGA or DVI platforms.
